    13 Ways to Avoid & Limit Identity Theft

    1. Monitor your accounts
    2. Remove yourself from Direct Marketing Association lists
    3. Keep gifts/purchases  in trunk whenever possible - keep car locked
    4. Remove valuable items from car (keys, iPods, electronic gadgets, briefcases, purses, etc.)
    5. Never leave your airline ticket stub or other personal items (purse, briefcase) lying around in public areas unattended.
    6. Guard your credit cards - ID thieves peer over your shoulder
    7. Don't carry cards you don't need
    8. Keep personal information home and secure
    9. Only shop secure on-line websites (begin with http://...)
    10. Log on directly to website not through links or emails.
    11. Avoid free websites and downloads - some allow access to your computer
    12. Use a credit card not a debit card for on-line shopping
    13. Use  only one credit card to more easily track transactions
